Trump Hotels Launching in Vancouver: What Travelers Should Know

Trump Hotel Collection announced plans to develop a new hotel-condominium in Vancouver. Scheduled to open in 2016, the $360 million Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver will be situated on Georgia Street in downtown Coal Harbour. The project is planned as a 65-story tower featuring 147 guestrooms and 218 condominiums, alongside amenities designed for both residents and guests.

The tower’s public spaces are expected to include a signature restaurant, a convention center suitable for meetings and events, a full-service spa, and a pool-bar that will also function as an evening lounge. Together these facilities aim to serve business travelers, local residents, and international visitors looking for a combined hotel and residential experience.

“We are thrilled to be bringing the Trump flag to Vancouver as it has become a world-class city in its own right,” said Donald Trump. He noted the city’s strong market potential and said the development fits the brand’s global growth strategy. The Vancouver property is intended to distinguish itself in the local market through luxury services, curated amenities, and premium residential offerings.

This project will be the second Trump International Hotel & Tower in Canada, following the 65-story Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto, which opened the previous April. The Toronto tower similarly combined hotel operations with residential units and high-end amenities, serving as a model for this Vancouver development.

Located in Coal Harbour, the site places the new tower in a central waterfront neighborhood known for its proximity to the business district, recreational areas, and transportation links. Developers emphasized the location’s appeal for guests seeking easy access to downtown attractions and for condominium owners who value an urban lifestyle with scenic views.

Financially, the $360 million investment reflects both construction costs and the fit-out for luxury finishes and amenities. The plan anticipates creating a mixed-use environment where short-term hotel guests and long-term residents share sophisticated facilities while enjoying tailored hospitality services.

As with large-scale urban developments, approvals, permitting, and construction timelines can affect the opening schedule. The 2016 target represents an estimated completion date based on planning and permitting milestones at the time of the announcement. Project planners indicated their commitment to coordinating with local authorities to meet required standards and community expectations.

For Vancouver’s hospitality market, the arrival of a high-profile international brand increases competition among luxury accommodations and presents a new option for affluent travelers. The addition of residential units in the tower also contributes to the range of premium housing choices in the downtown core, offering buyers access to hotel services alongside private residences.
