TAM Airlines will become the first carrier in the Americas to operate the Airbus A350 XWB and the fourth airline worldwide to receive the type, following recent deliveries to LATAM Airlines Group. TAM’s A350 is arranged in a premium two-class configuration with 348 seats, including 30 lie-flat business class seats. LATAM has placed an order for a total of 27 A350 XWB aircraft.
The airline plans to start commercial A350 XWB service in January 2016 on domestic flights between São Paulo (GRU) and Manaus (MAO) as part of ongoing crew training and operational familiarization. International services will follow, with São Paulo–Miami (MIA) routes scheduled to begin in March and São Paulo–Madrid (MAD) services commencing in April.
Claudia Sender, CEO of TAM S.A., commented that the A350 XWB combines fuel-efficient performance with advanced onboard technology to enhance passenger comfort and operational efficiency. The aircraft will complement TAM’s current modern fleet while offering improved economy and environmental performance.
