Equinox Hotels has long focused on combining luxury hospitality with wellness performance. To deepen that commitment, the brand recently announced a collaboration with Dr. Matthew Walker, author of Why We Sleep, a sleep scientist and professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. The initiative aims to advance sleep science within hospitality and elevate guest recovery and performance.
“At Equinox Hotels, we understand that sleep isn’t just a luxury—it’s essential to living a high-performance life,” said Chris Norton, CEO of Equinox Hotels. “This partnership with Dr. Walker extends our leadership in the industry and reinforces our commitment to delivering top-quality regeneration experiences so guests can perform at their best.”

The collaboration introduces several initiatives designed to bring evidence-based sleep solutions to guests and staff:
- Equinox Hotels Sleep Lab at Equinox Hotel New York, where guests can experience advanced sleep technologies and participate in research guided by Dr. Walker.
- New guestroom designs that incorporate sleep-enhancing technologies and amenities developed in consultation with Dr. Walker.
- Equinox Hotels Jet Lag Reset, a digital program offering personalized strategies to reduce jet lag and speed recovery, available through Equinox Hotels’ digital channels.
“Sleep is the foundation for everything we do, one of the four pillars of Equinox Hotels,” Dr. Walker said. “I’m excited to work with Equinox to develop practical, science-backed sleep solutions that improve the hospitality experience and empower travelers to reach their full potential.”
In addition to product and design integration, the partnership includes ongoing educational content curated by Dr. Walker and programming such as the Equinox Hotels Global Sleep Symposium, held annually to share research, best practices, and innovations in sleep and recovery.
By blending hospitality design with sleep science, Equinox Hotels aims to create environments that support restorative sleep and high performance—helping guests arrive rested, recover faster, and maintain wellbeing on the road.
