Arrival/Check-In: Arriving in Dallas in the early afternoon made for an easy drive from Dallas Love Field Airport—only about 15 minutes to downtown. The hotel valet promptly took my car, and with warm, windy weather outside I was quickly guided into the spacious lobby. The valet area is thoughtfully equipped with fans and cold bottled water, and attendants are on duty 24 hours and consistently friendly. Check-in took only a few minutes, and my room was ready despite an early arrival, which was a welcome convenience.
Guest Quarters: I stayed in the Panhandle Suite, one of Fairmont Dallas’ one-bedroom suites. A short entry hallway opened into a generous living area where I spent most of my time. A compact desk to the right offered plenty of outlets via the lamp base for my laptop, but I preferred working at the four-person dining table positioned in front of floor-to-ceiling windows. The seating included a full sectional and Queen Anne wing chairs arranged around a large television that sat above the stocked minibar cabinet.
The bedroom continued the floor-to-ceiling window treatment and featured a king-sized bed with modern lamps and hanging mirrors that added a refined touch. A full-length mirror was a practical bonus. The television and dresser were placed in a darker corner a bit farther from the bed, though the roomy walk-in closet more than compensated for the layout. The marble bathroom offered a shower/tub combination and a single-sink vanity with good lighting. Rose 31-branded toiletries were provided, and as with other Fairmont properties, the personalized touch of seeing my name on the bottles was a delightful surprise—the fragrance was excellent and I took a set home.
Services/Amenities: Fairmont Dallas provides smart dining options for business travelers, anchored by the Pyramid Bar and Restaurant. During my visit the bar was closed for a private event, but it’s known as a lively evening spot for drinks. The restaurant features a seasonal menu; my lunch included some of the best shishito peppers I’ve tasted along with a crisp Caesar salad and a standout coconut-lavender lemonade. For quick coffee and convenience, the property also houses a Starbucks, which was perfect for grabbing a cup before heading out for meetings.
The rooftop is one of the hotel’s highlights, offering clear views of downtown Dallas. The junior Olympic pool is an inviting place to relax, with food and beverage service available. The rooftop herb garden adds a pleasant, green touch and is nice to wander through between swims or while enjoying the skyline.
