Celebrating its 30th season, the New Israeli Opera also marks twenty years of performances at the Opera House of the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center. This season’s lineup includes 11 full-scale operas and several special productions. For the first time, the company will present a production of La Rondine. Returning to the stage are grand works such as Nabucco, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, Delibes’ The Bayadere, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore.
Beyond Tel Aviv, the Opera Festival at Masada offers a spectacular setting for performances. This year the festival program highlights Puccini’s Tosca and Orff’s Carmina Burana (June 4–13). Additional outdoor summer productions are planned for Jerusalem and Acre, presenting opera in historic and scenic venues for residents and visitors alike.
Complementing the staged operas, the season features a wide range of complementary events. The annual International Dance Series brings top choreographers and companies, while the Classical Music Series showcases orchestral and chamber programs. Families can enjoy the weekly Children’s Opera Hour, designed to introduce young audiences to the art form. The season also includes several jazz and world music concerts, expanding the company’s cultural offerings beyond traditional opera.
With a mix of well-loved classics, a notable company debut, and performances staged in unique outdoor locations, the season emphasizes artistic diversity and public engagement. The programming aims to attract both longtime opera enthusiasts and newcomers, offering accessible options alongside large-scale productions. Special attention is given to venue variety, with indoor performances at the Tel Aviv Opera House and dramatic outdoor stagings that take advantage of Israel’s historic landscapes.
This milestone season reinforces the company’s role in the country’s cultural life: nurturing new productions, presenting international repertoire, and supporting educational initiatives. Audiences can expect a carefully curated combination of dramatic storytelling, vocal excellence and memorable stagecraft across the season’s indoor and outdoor events.
