Gorilla Forest Lodge is an exceptional base for encountering mountain gorillas. Situated within the gates of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the lodge places guests close to these magnificent animals, and on occasion gorillas even wander onto the property.

Beyond the highlight of gorilla trekking with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, the lodge offers a range of guided activities that allow visitors to explore Bwindi’s remarkable landscape. Forest walks along the Munyaga Waterfall Trail reveal a varied ecosystem—dense forest and bamboo groves give way to open glades where giant forest hogs and red-tailed monkeys can be spotted. Birdwatchers will find more than 350 species to search for, including rare endemics such as the African green broadbill and the elusive African pitta.

Design That Speaks the Language of the Forest
Each of the 10 generously sized suites is designed to merge indoor comfort with the surrounding forest. Floor-to-ceiling windows and wide decks dissolve the boundary between inside and out, while large bathtubs provide a restorative soak after active days trekking. Interiors feature clay-textured plaster walls, woven banana-leaf ceilings and long framed views that create a calm rhythm throughout the space. Even the rugs are part of the story—crafted from reclaimed agricultural materials and repurposed into attractive, sustainable pieces. Barkcloth cushions include QR codes that link to the artisans who made them, helping guests connect directly with the local community behind these handcrafted elements.
