Verizon TravelPass: How It Works and When to Use It

Verizon has launched TravelPass, a simple talk, text and data option designed for travelers. TravelPass lets customers use their existing domestic plan allowances abroad without incurring traditional roaming charges, and it can be activated for as little as $2 per day, per line.

The service applies your plan’s minutes, texts and data while you’re traveling, so there are no hidden international fees beyond the daily rate. To enroll, sign in to My Verizon at MyVerizon.com and choose Manage International Services, or enable TravelPass through the MyVerizon mobile app before you depart.

TravelPass costs $2 for each 24-hour period of use in Mexico and Canada. For more than 65 other countries, the rate is $10 per 24-hour period. You are charged only for the days you actually use the service: a daily session starts when you make or receive a call, send a text message, or connect to data. There is no fee to add international services to your account, and you can activate TravelPass at any time. When it isn’t in use, the option remains on your account without extra charges.

TravelPass is intended to provide travelers with predictable, pay-as-you-go international coverage that leverages your current Verizon plan, avoiding surprise bills and minimizing the need to search for Wi-Fi while abroad.
