Qantas Unveils New London Lounge: What Travelers Need to Know

Qantas unveiled its new London lounge at Heathrow Airport last week after a year-long construction effort. The facility is designed to serve passengers on Qantas’s current London routes and will also accommodate travelers on the new London–Perth (PER) service launching March 24.

“London is one of our most important destinations,” said Alan Joyce, CEO of the Qantas Group. “We worked with leaders in design, food and service to create a lounge that is modern, comfortable and aligned with the familiar aesthetics of Qantas lounges so customers feel at home. We are reshaping expectations for international travel with direct flights between Australia and London. It’s a long journey, so we are taking a holistic approach to passenger wellbeing on and off the aircraft, and the new Heathrow lounge is an important part of that.”

The lounge accommodates more than 230 guests across two levels with views over the airfield. Its layout and atmosphere follow the Qantas lounge family—similar to those in Hong Kong, Singapore, Los Angeles and Brisbane—while incorporating local influences. Design firm Woods Bagot drew on London’s twilight palette when selecting colors, furnishings and textures, favoring deep greens and blues paired with warm wood finishes, stone and brass details.

An upper-level cocktail bar serves mixologist-crafted drinks alongside a curated selection of Australian and European wines and beers. A dedicated gin bar highlights both Australian and British gins. Dining blends British and Australian flavors, with offerings such as pot pies, scones and brunch bowls, plus Qantas’s signature salt-and-pepper squid with green chili sauce. Hot and cold buffets provide self-serve options, and a hydration station supplies herbal teas, fruit-infused water and sparkling water.

“We want to help our customers feel great throughout every part of their journey,” said Neil Perry, creative director of food, beverage and service for the Qantas Group. “We collaborated with the University of Sydney to develop lounge dining that emphasizes light, fresh options focused on hydration and nutrition, while still offering a selection of locally inspired dishes and comfort favorites.”

Additional amenities include complimentary WiFi, dedicated workstations and six shower suites, all intended to enhance comfort and productivity for passengers before departure.
