Malaysia Airlines Adds Kochi & Restores Flights to Darwin and Dubai

Malaysia Airlines has announced expanded services, introducing a new daily route between Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and Kochi, India (COK), and restoring regular flights to Dubai (DXB) and Darwin, Australia (DRW). The carrier plans to begin daily flights to Kochi on September 1 and will resume service to Darwin, operating five weekly flights from November 1. Both routes will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured with 16 business-class seats and 144 economy seats. In response to strong customer demand, Malaysia Airlines will also reinstate daily flights to Dubai starting August 5 using Boeing 777-200 aircraft with 35 business-class seats and 247 economy seats.

Ahmad Jauhari Yaha, CEO of Malaysia Airlines, commented on the network changes: “As the national carrier, we have decided to operate to these three cities—Dubai, Kochi and Darwin—to introduce Malaysia to new markets. We are happy to reinstate Dubai and Darwin into Malaysia Airlines’ network to extend our reach and strengthen our offering to customers.”

These announcements follow recent capacity increases on other popular routes. Last month the airline boosted service to Phuket (HKT) to 26 weekly frequencies by adding a new daily flight, introduced a 12th weekly service to Mumbai (BOM), and raised Kathmandu (KTM) frequencies from five weekly flights to daily service.

The expanded schedule reflects Malaysia Airlines’ broader strategy to enhance connectivity and meet rising passenger demand across regional and international markets. The combination of narrow-body Boeing 737-800 aircraft for short- to medium-haul sectors and wide-body Boeing 777-200 aircraft for high-demand international routes allows the airline to match capacity with market requirements while offering both business and economy cabin options.

Passengers planning travel to these destinations should check Malaysia Airlines’ official channels for booking details, exact flight times and any seasonal schedule updates. As the carrier adds capacity, travelers can expect more options for direct travel between Kuala Lumpur and key destinations in South Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
