Explore Winter Wonderland: Top Activities and Scenic Spots

Munich Airport’s annual Winter Market transforms the Munich Airport Center — the space between the two terminals — into a festive destination from Nov. 22 to Dec. 28. With more than 40 stalls offering gift ideas, seasonal treats and handmade goods, the market provides a compact, family-friendly holiday experience right at the airport.

Alongside traditional stalls, this year’s program adds several eye-catching attractions. An ice rink invites visitors to skate, while the Airbräu Beer Garden features a 164-foot curved ice slide that promises fun for all ages. The MetaTwist Tower hosts an open-air cinema that screens popular films every Monday at 6:30 p.m., creating a relaxed, communal atmosphere under the night sky.

Kinderland offers a dedicated children’s program every Tuesday from 2–5 p.m. (advance registration required) with treasure hunts, face painting and arts-and-crafts activities designed to keep little visitors entertained. Thursdays spotlight a Winter Olympics event starting at 4 p.m., where families can take part in lighthearted competitions such as a sliding contest on the new ice track. Friday evenings are geared toward adults and young professionals with an after-work ice disco beginning at 6 p.m., while live bands and musical performances fill the weekends, adding to the market’s vibrant ambiance.

The Winter Market’s opening hours are daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with an early closing at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Whether you’re looking for seasonal gifts, family entertainment, or simply a festive place to spend an evening, the Munich Airport Winter Market offers a convenient and cheerful way to celebrate the holiday season.
