JFK Airport has added an indoor pet relief area, so owners no longer need to leave the terminal when their pets need a break. Situated in Terminal 4, the new area features 70 square feet of green turf and provides dog waste bags and a hose for cleaning after use.
This addition brings JFK in line with other major U.S. airports that already offer similar facilities, such as Washington Dulles International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Federal regulations now require airports serving more than 10,000 passengers annually to provide pet relief areas, ensuring that guide animals, emotional support animals, and traveling pets have a convenient and sanitary place to relieve themselves after long flights or periods of travel.
The Terminal 4 pet relief area is designed for ease of use and hygiene. The artificial turf helps contain messes, while the supplied waste bags and on-site hose make it straightforward for owners to clean up afterward.
