The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company L.L.C. has announced plans to open its first hotel in Mexico City. The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City is scheduled to open in 2019 and will occupy floors 36–47 of Chapultepec Uno, a prominent mixed-use development located in the heart of the city’s financial district. When finished, Chapultepec Uno will rise to 58 floors and encompass approximately 1.1 million square feet of space.
The 153-room hotel will offer unobstructed views of Chapultepec Park and will feature the signature luxury services and amenities associated with The Ritz-Carlton brand. The property will be operated under a management agreement with Thor Urbana Capital and Heldan Hotels & Resorts, combining local investment with international hotel management expertise.
“Travel to Mexico continues to grow for both business and leisure travelers throughout the Caribbean and Latin America region and for inbound travel to the United States,” said Gabriel Helfon, chief executive officer of Heldan Hotels & Resorts. “This project will support the ongoing emergence and success of Mexico City as a leading international destination.”
In addition to the Mexico City opening, The Ritz-Carlton plans further expansion in the region with upcoming properties scheduled to open in Panama City, Panama (2016) and Los Cabos, Mexico (2017), reflecting the brand’s broader growth strategy across Latin America and the Caribbean.
