Emirates Business Class: Luxury Seats, Lounges & What to Expect

On the Ground: I arrived at Incheon International Airport and easily located the Emirates check-in. Being early for my flight, I was second in the business-class line. The check-in process was efficient and within minutes I was on my way to the Korean Air lounge.

Pre-Flight: At around 10 p.m., the bright and well-appointed lounge offered a broad selection of food. There were hot options such as pizza, fried rice and pasta for those wanting a full meal, alongside lighter choices like salads and sandwiches. A small selection of pastries and macaroons provided a pleasant sweet finish.

The lounge featured abundant comfortable seating and complimentary Wi-Fi with no password required, which made it easy to catch up on a few emails before boarding. A centrally located business desk with a printer and workspace was convenient for anyone needing to work before departure.

In-Flight: This was my first time flying on an Airbus A380, and I was among the first business-class passengers to board. The aircraft’s size is impressive, and the crew’s welcoming demeanor set a positive tone right away. The cabin layout in business class places single seats at the windows and pairs of seats in the center, a configuration that balances privacy with accessibility.

At first glance the seats appear compact and somewhat boxy, but once settled I appreciated their thoughtful design. Each seat included a selection of beverages, counter space for a book or electronics, and a magazine nook I used to stow my laptop. Before takeoff I was offered a glass of Moët & Chandon Champagne and received a nicely presented amenity kit featuring Bvlgari products.

For dinner I chose a traditional Arabic mezze plate to start, followed by a seasonal salad and chicken tandoori as the main course, paired with a glass of Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc. The courses were well prepared and satisfying. Because the flight departed around midnight, I skipped dessert in favor of sleep.

The lie-flat seat provided a comfortable rest, and with an Emirates eye mask I managed to sleep while some passengers visited the lounge area at the rear of the cabin. The cabin environment felt relaxed and conducive to rest.

The flight between Seoul and Dubai lasted about 10 hours and passed quickly. For breakfast I selected a delicatessen platter with cold meats and cheeses and a cup of herbal tea. I had limited time to explore the ICE entertainment system but was impressed by the variety of movies, music and full seasons of television shows available on demand.

The Experience: As a first-time Emirates passenger I had high expectations, and the experience met them. Attention to detail was evident throughout: from seat ergonomics and amenity kit contents to the crew’s polished uniforms and attentive service. The A380 itself enhanced the journey; the cabin felt noticeably less dry and more comfortable than other flights I have taken. For frequent travelers seeking a premium experience, flying Emirates on the A380 is well worth trying.
