Qatar Airways Expands Dreamliner Routes Worldwide

Qatar Airways is expanding its Boeing 787 Dreamliner service to Moscow later this year as part of a broader network upgrade. The carrier will increase operations between Doha International Airport and Sheremetyevo International Airport by adding two weekly Dreamliner flights, bringing the total frequency on the route to 14 flights per week. In addition to the new 787 rotations, Qatar Airways will reconfigure equipment on the route, replacing some single-aisle Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft with a mix of A320s and twin-aisle Boeing 787s.

Qatar Airways first launched service to Moscow more than a decade ago, and demand has grown steadily since. Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said the airline is responding to customer demand by both increasing weekly frequencies and introducing the 787 on the route. The Dreamliner deployed on this sector features a two-class layout with 254 seats, including 22 business-class seats. By increasing frequency and upgauging aircraft on selected frequencies, the airline will add approximately 168 business-class seats on the Doha–Moscow route each week.

The introduction of the 787 on the Moscow route brings several passenger benefits. The Dreamliner is designed for improved cabin comfort, with higher cabin humidity, larger windows and quieter engines compared with older narrowbody equipment. For travelers on this route, the larger aircraft offers more premium seating options and increased overall capacity, which improves availability of both economy and business-class inventory.

Operationally, substituting some A319 and A320 flights with A320s and 787s allows Qatar Airways to better match capacity with demand at different times of the week. The move reflects wider network trends where airlines increasingly deploy widebody jets on higher-demand short- to medium-haul international routes to offer enhanced service and additional premium seats without adding separate frequencies.

Passengers booking travel between Doha and Moscow will see the change in equipment reflected in schedules and seat maps as the airline implements the new frequencies. The service increase and equipment swaps are intended to provide more options for travelers and support continuing traffic growth between Qatar and Russia.
