Palma Riad Hotel Opens: Adults-Only Spanish Paradise in Palma

Situated in the Mediterranean, the island of Majorca is a destination rich in history, culture and sun-drenched scenery. Its capital, Palma, now hosts one of the city’s most refined new hotels: Palma Riad. Located in the historic heart of Palma, this adult-focused sanctuary blends privacy, comfort and nuanced design to create a calm urban retreat.

Palma Riad is inspired by the traditional riad concept, where private rooms open onto an inner courtyard. The hotel advances that model with a refined courtyard that begins just beyond reception and sets the tone for each stay. Architectural details and interior motifs reference the island’s medieval Arabic influences, creating a dialogue between local history and contemporary comfort.

With 11 exclusive suites, Palma Riad emphasizes privacy and individuality: every suite has its own identity. Eleven different interior design teams contributed to the project, so each room feels distinct, offering a unique atmosphere and experience. Many original architectural elements were preserved, including coffered ceilings, original doors and period windows. Throughout the hotel, curated collections of art, antiques and bespoke wallpapers complement the furnishings.

Bathrooms are richly detailed, often tiled and in several suites featuring Moroccan-style hammams, oversized bathtubs and double showers. Layouts vary widely—some suites use space in unexpected ways, while others offer fireplaces and private terraces. In a few of the larger suites, fireplaces are thoughtfully placed even within bathroom areas to enhance warmth and ambiance.

Dining at Palma Riad centers on Morokko Bar and Restaurant, which blends Mediterranean flavors with North African influences and subtle Asian touches. The menu highlights fresh, seasonal ingredients and creative pairings: examples include a vegan Nikkei-style tomato with avocado ceviche, grilled tuna belly served with couscous, and classic crêpes Suzette flamed with triple sec and orange. The kitchen plans to introduce sushi offerings in the near future. A selection of signature cocktails, wines, cava and Champagne complement meals; one distinctive cocktail is the Tramontana, made with Palo, a Mallorcan liqueur, ginger beer, lime and peppermint.

Beyond suites and dining, the hotel offers a sun-soaked solarium where guests can relax on loungers and enjoy Mallorca’s plentiful sunshine—more than 300 days of sun a year. Palma Riad positions itself as an intimate urban escape that honors local heritage while delivering contemporary comforts and personalized service for travelers seeking calm, culture and refinement.
