Ritz-Carlton Singapore Celebrates First Michelin Star Win

The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore and its signature restaurant, Summer Pavilion, earned a Michelin star with the launch of the inaugural Michelin Guide for Singapore. Summer Pavilion is the only Chinese restaurant located inside a hotel to receive this recognition. Peter Mainguy, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, said he was delighted the restaurant secured a one-star rating from the esteemed Michelin Guide, an accolade that highlights the hotel’s dedication to culinary excellence in a city celebrated for its food culture.

Executive Chef Cheung Siu Kong, who joined Summer Pavilion in 2003 and became executive chef in 2014, emphasizes a straightforward approach to Cantonese cooking. “My cooking philosophy is simple,” Chef Cheung explains. “Authentic Cantonese dishes rely on modest techniques that let the natural flavors of quality ingredients shine. After more than 25 years in the industry, I remain passionate about creating dishes that bring smiles to our guests.”

To mark the Michelin recognition, Summer Pavilion is offering a special celebratory menu featuring the chef’s signature creations. Highlights include barbecue Iberico pork, South African abalone, sea whelk soup, and Japanese wagyu beef—dishes that showcase precise technique and premium ingredients while staying true to Cantonese tradition.

Late last year, Summer Pavilion completed renovations that refreshed the dining space and added six private dining rooms, enhancing the restaurant’s capacity to host intimate gatherings and special events. The refurbishment preserves the restaurant’s refined atmosphere while improving comfort and privacy for guests seeking an elevated Cantonese dining experience.

The Michelin star underscores The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore’s continued commitment to exceptional hospitality and culinary standards. Summer Pavilion’s recognition places it among the city’s most celebrated dining destinations and reinforces Singapore’s reputation as a global food capital.
