4 Reasons to Visit Nobu Bar at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square This Autumn

Since opening in 2021, Nobu Hotel London Portman Square has become a hub for memorable stays, events and gatherings. This autumn, the hotel’s Nobu Bar introduces four fresh reasons to visit: an energetic weekly party, a revamped cocktail menu, a special collaboration and curated programming for London Cocktail Week.

Drop the Beat

Launching October 5, “Drop the Beat” takes over Nobu Bar every Thursday. Drawing on the energy of ’80s disco and funk, and inspired by the legendary Japanese nightclub Maharaja, the event features weekly DJ performances. Resident selector Megan Fernandez will curate each night, delivering a dancefloor-ready mix that pairs perfectly with the bar’s food and cocktail offerings.

New Cocktail Menu

Complementing the new weekly nights, bar manager Sophie Bratt has developed a refreshed cocktail menu in collaboration with House of Suntory, a leader in Japanese spirits. The menu riffs on classic drinks while showcasing House of Suntory’s range, including Haku vodka, Toki whisky, Roku gin and Hibiki. Standout serves include the Kokoro — Haku vodka and sakura vermouth married with cold-brew hibiscus, jasmine kombucha and verjus — and the shimmering Toki cocktail, brightened with ginger ale and finished with a delicate gold shimmer.

Collaboration with Idris Elba’s Porte Noir

Through March 2024, Nobu Bar partners exclusively with Porte Noir, the label founded by actor and musician Idris Elba. The collaboration brings Porte Noir Champagne to the bar’s list, with a charitable element: a portion of proceeds from each glass sold will support The Water Project as part of the Save Water, Drink Champagne initiative. The pairing of Nobu’s hospitality and Porte Noir’s champagne adds a celebratory and philanthropic dimension to the season.

London Cocktail Week

During London Cocktail Week, October 12–22, Nobu Bar will present a special program of sustainable and creative cocktails. In partnership with the sustainable beverage brand Discarded, the bar will offer a trio of bespoke drinks that emphasize reducing waste and inventive reuse of ingredients. Bar manager Sophie Bratt will host a series of events focused on sustainability and the role of women in the industry. On October 19, industry veterans Siobhan Payne and Hannah Sharman-Cox join Sophie for an evening of Champagne, martinis and curated shots.

The three signature cocktails for London Cocktail Week are:

  • Espresso High: Cascara vermouth, lacto plum syrup and pre-brewed coffee husk, finished with cocoa nib soda and coffee husk “dirt” for texture and depth.
  • Banana Peel Punch: A creative punch made with banana-peel rum, banana-skin syrup, coconut milk, a touch of milk, flat Champagne, citrus and Fernet—an ode to zero-waste technique and bold flavors.
  • Strawberries & Cream: Chardonnay-grape vodka, a soft strawberry syrup, “waste” Champagne acid, mascarpone and a hint of citrus for a dessert-style cocktail with balanced acidity.

With its new weekly events, a reimagined drinks menu, a high-profile champagne collaboration and dedicated London Cocktail Week programming, Nobu Bar at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square offers fresh and thoughtful ways to experience the hotel this season. Whether you’re drawn by music, inventive cocktails or sustainable practices, the bar aims to deliver nights that are both stylish and spirited.
