Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills: Luxury Hotel & Rooftop Restaurant Guide

Arrival/Check-in: I traveled to Beverly Hills for Global Traveler’s GT Tested Reader Survey awards gala cocktail reception at a nearby hotel. After a smooth flight from the chilly East Coast, I arrived to pleasantly warm Los Angeles weather. The doorman greeted me warmly and directed me to reception, where attentive staff checked me in quickly. The concierge escorted me to my room. The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills opened in June 2017, and the property still carries that fresh, newly minted feel.

Guest Quarters: My accommodation was a Beverly Hills suite with a balcony overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard. The balcony featured two chairs and a small coffee table—an inviting spot for a morning coffee or an evening drink.

The suite opens into an entrance foyer leading to a hallway. One side of the hall houses an ample walk-in dressing room/closet with a dresser and built-in bench, providing generous storage and dressing space. Opposite the closet is a well-appointed bathroom with a large tub, dual sinks, a separate shower and a private water closet.

The bedroom includes a king-size bed flanked by two nightstands and a bench at the foot of the bed. The work desk is practical, with power outlets at desktop level and an iPad that controls lighting, climate, window blinds and room service, making in-room adjustments effortless.

Seating options include two armchairs positioned on either side of the desk and a comfortable easy chair with an ottoman. A minibar and coffeemaker are available for snacks and refreshments. Toiletries are by Salvatore Ferragamo, adding a refined touch to the bathroom amenities.

Services/Amenities: Situated at the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica, the hotel sits in the heart of Beverly Hills and is conveniently close to Rodeo Drive and other local attractions.

The hotel’s signature restaurant is Jean-Georges—the only Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant in California. I enjoyed breakfast there and found the morning menu to be among the best I’ve encountered. In addition to the restaurant lounge, the property offers a lobby bar and an impressive rooftop lounge. Located on the 12th floor, the rooftop bar provides expansive 360-degree views both day and night. The fitness center is fully equipped and reserved for hotel guests, so it rarely feels crowded. The spa is La Prairie, a Swiss luxury brand, and includes six treatment rooms for a range of therapies.

The rooftop pool features shaded cabanas for those who want a break from the sun. The hotel also provides a business center, multiple meeting rooms and a ballroom, catering to both leisure and business needs.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

◆ Staff are consistently friendly and accommodating. From doormen and bellhops to housekeeping and front desk personnel, staff make a point of greeting guests and offering assistance.

◆ The rooftop bar is a highlight. I hosted a lunch there for four colleagues; we all enjoyed our meals and were impressed by the daytime views. It’s a memorable spot worth visiting during your stay.
