United Airlines terminals at George Bush Intercontinental Airport are set to receive significant upgrades designed to enhance the passenger experience. United has partnered with OTG, a leading airport food, beverage, and retail operator, to bring new dining concepts, technology, and redesigned spaces to the terminals.
The collaboration with OTG will introduce restaurants developed by notable local chefs, integrate modern amenities, and create refreshed gate areas and retail offerings. Rick Blatstein, CEO of OTG, described the project as a transformation that will turn United’s terminals at George Bush Intercontinental into a destination for quality food and shopping, offering a fresh airport experience for Houston travelers.
Planned dining additions highlight Houston’s culinary diversity and local talent. New options will include a taqueria from Chef Roland Laurenzo, known for popularizing fajitas in the United States; a seasonal pizza concept by Chef Ryan Pera; a restaurant blending Cajun and Vietnamese influences; a panini bar led by Chef Monica Pope; and a Houston-focused tavern from James Beard-recognized Chef Chris Shepherd. These concepts emphasize local flavors and chef-driven menus tailored to travelers.
Technology upgrades are a key component of the renovation. The project will install approximately 8,000 iPads throughout the terminals to enhance convenience and entertainment. Passengers will be able to use the devices to order food, shop for retail items, and request services for delivery either to a restaurant or directly to a gate. The iPads will also come pre-loaded with entertainment options to make wait times more enjoyable.
Beyond dining and technology, the upgrade includes redesigned gate areas and refreshed public spaces to improve flow and comfort. The plans prioritize thoughtful design that supports both efficiency and a more pleasant environment for travelers. World-class shopping and locally inspired retail will complement the food and tech offerings, creating a more complete travel experience.
Overall, the United–OTG partnership aims to make George Bush Intercontinental Airport terminals a showcase for Houston’s culinary scene while adding contemporary amenities and better-designed spaces. The combination of chef-driven restaurants, integrated technology like the iPads, and upgraded retail and gate areas is intended to deliver a smoother, more enjoyable airport experience for passengers traveling through Houston.
