Eurowings Adds 36 New Routes: Where You Can Fly Next

Beginning in January, Eurowings will introduce 36 new routes across Europe and beyond. The Lufthansa low-cost carrier is stepping in to operate several services that were previously served by airberlin, which ceased operations in late October.

Of the 36 additions, 15 routes will depart from Berlin (TXL), six from Vienna (VIE), five from Dusseldorf (DUS), three from Nuremberg (NUE), two from Hamburg (HAM), and one each from Cologne (CGN), Munich (MUC), Salzburg (SZG), Stuttgart (STR) and Zurich (ZRH). The network expansion focuses largely on intra-European connections, linking destinations such as Gothenburg (GOT), Krakow (KRK), Milan (MXP) and Copenhagen (CPH). Several longer routes extend beyond continental Europe, for example Berlin to Gran Canaria (LPA), Vienna to Marrakech, Morocco (RAK), and Nuremberg to Tenerife, Canary Islands (TFS).

The new services are scheduled to start between January 15 and January 18, 2018. Short- and medium-haul flights will be operated on Airbus A320 and Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft. For longer sectors that require higher capacity or range, some flights may be operated by partner airline TUIfly using Boeing 737-800 equipment.

This network rollout strengthens Eurowings’ market presence in key German and Austrian airports while restoring connectivity on routes left vacant by airberlin’s collapse. Passengers can expect a mix of regional and leisure-oriented services designed to serve both business travelers and holidaymakers, with a focus on popular European city pairs and seasonal island routes.

As with any schedule changes, travelers should verify flight times, aircraft type and operating carrier when booking, since some services may be codeshared or operated by partner airlines. Baggage rules, seating options and ancillary fees can vary by fare type and operating carrier, so checking the specific terms for each booking is recommended.
