Andaz Opens First Hotel in Canada: What Travelers Need to Know

With the official opening of Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market, the Andaz brand has made its first entry into Canada. The hotel, the 13th property in the Andaz portfolio, sits in Ottawa’s historic ByWard Market district, surrounded by shopping, dining, cultural venues and nightlife.

“We are very excited to introduce the Andaz brand to such a special city like Ottawa that has so much history and culture to share. With the support of local designers, artisans and creative minds, this incredible hotel celebrates the very best of local culture here in Ottawa and aims to inspire guests and locals. We look forward to becoming a member of this great community and growing alongside the nation’s capital,” said Matt Graham, general manager of Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market.

The hotel features 200 guestrooms across 16 floors, with each floor’s design inspired by a different Canadian province or territory. Public spaces are crafted to feel warm and inviting: the lobby offers a lounge-like atmosphere with custom light fixtures and comfortable seating. Materials such as stone flooring, oak paneling, copper accents, local artwork and patterned rugs create a cohesive, locally grounded aesthetic.

Andaz Ottawa provides six meeting spaces, a signature restaurant and bar, and a rooftop lounge. The main restaurant, feast + revel, focuses on New Canadian cuisine using local and organic ingredients. The rooftop destination, Copper Spirits & Sights, serves craft cocktails, seasonal beers and small plates while offering panoramic views and outdoor fire pits for an elevated social experience.

Dining and beverage selections at the hotel extend into guestrooms as well: complimentary minibars feature locally sourced items including Hummingbird Chocolate, Harvey & Vern’s sodas and Tawse wines, among others.

“Our approach when it comes to food and beverage is all about creating a social space that brings people together and offers incredible options inspired by Ottawa’s culture. Ottawa has deep culinary influences from France and England so our food pays homage to this history with British and French touches. We also want our options to be representative of all Ottawa has to offer, so we’re excited to be working with local farmers, artisans, brewers, winemakers and others who are helping us to craft a truly special experience,” said Stephen LaSalle, executive chef of feast + revel.

Andaz also plans to expand its footprint with three additional openings planned by the end of the year in Scottsdale, Delhi and Riviera Maya.
