If you’d walk a mile for a margarita, set your sights on Dallas. Launched in 2018, the city’s popular Margarita Mile is a city-wide, ice-cold celebration of some of the best margaritas and eateries Dallas has to offer.

Dallas claims a special place in margarita history: about fifty years ago restauranteur Mariano Martinez invented the frozen margarita machine, helping cement the city’s reputation as the unofficial home of the frozen margarita.
If you plan to explore the Mile on foot, know that you can make the route easier in Uptown by hopping on the McKinney Avenue Trolley to reach several stops. Many of the participating restaurants pair excellent margaritas with tacos and other Tex-Mex staples. Notable spots include Jalisco Norte in Oak Lawn, La Ventana and Meso Maya downtown, and Tejas in the Bishop Arts District.

If you’re moderating alcohol for the new year, you can still enjoy the Margarita Mile with a variety of creative mocktails. Many venues offer nonalcoholic options that capture the same bright, citrus-forward flavors.
Here are a few mocktails to look for:
At Tulum, try an artisan grapefruit made with grapefruit soda and Topo Chico, or the Jungle Juice with passionfruit, cranberry and orange. At Las Palmas, popular choices include a strawberry limeade or Mexican chocolate milk. Jalisco Norte offers a ginger lemonade made with ginger, agave and lemon, as well as a blackberry mint soda made with house-made blackberry syrup, lemon and Topo Chico.
At The Rustic, sample the Desert Pear Spritz (prickly pear syrup, fresh lime and club soda), the Hibiscus Mockarita (hibiscus syrup and lime sour), or the Winter Sunshine (mixed citrus syrup and club soda).

At Fearings, try the Facetious made with coconut purée, pineapple-infused syrup and fresh lime, or the Fortuity, crafted with Navarro pinot noir grape juice, orgeat almond syrup, lemon and tonic.
Want to create your own Margarita Mile itinerary? Participants must be at least 21 to drink alcohol. To plan a self-guided tour, visit the Margarita Mile’s official website to review participating restaurants and map out the stops that interest you most.
