American Airlines Expands Flights to New European Cities

American Airlines is expanding its European network next summer, adding new services that include Budapest (BUD) and Venice (VCE).

From May 4 to Oct. 27, the carrier plans to operate flights from Philadelphia (PHL) to both Budapest and Prague (PRG), and will introduce an additional service between Chicago (ORD) and Venice. American already operates a Philadelphia–Venice route. All new services are subject to government approval.

The Philadelphia–Budapest and Philadelphia–Prague routes are scheduled to be operated with Boeing 767-300 aircraft, while the Chicago–Venice service will use a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

“Summer travel to Europe is very popular. These flights will conveniently connect customers from two very important hubs — Chicago and Philadelphia — to exciting markets across the Atlantic,” said Vasu Raja, vice president of network and schedule planning at American Airlines.

Earlier this summer, the airline launched new transatlantic routes to Amsterdam (AMS) and Rome (FCO) from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), and added Barcelona (BCN) service from Chicago.
