L7 Myeongdong by Lotte Review: What to Expect at Seoul’s Trendy Hotel

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: It’s about an hour’s drive from Incheon Airport to L7 Myeongdong, but the location makes the trip worthwhile. The hotel sits in the heart of the city, within steps of shops and evening food vendors offering a wide variety of Korean dishes. After a short elevator ride to the lobby, I noticed the hotel’s chic black countertops set against the brand’s signature bright yellow accent wall.

Guests can use self-check-in kiosks, though the front desk team greeted me warmly when the kiosks were in use. I received my hotel key along with a concise list of amenities and their floor locations, meal vouchers for the hotel’s Floating restaurant, and a WOWPASS that I could pre-load with funds for convenient, cashless payments.

GUEST QUARTERS: I appreciated the generous room size and the view over the busy streets below. My Standard Double room felt thoughtfully arranged: the bathroom was immediately to the left of the entrance, and a full-length mirror stood to the right. Closet space and drawers were ample for storing clothes, and a comfortable chair with a small table sat by the window. A wall-mounted desk with a single stool and task light provided a practical workspace. Two boxes of chocolate-dipped biscuits awaited as a welcome snack—an inviting touch while unpacking.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: Breakfast at the hotel offered a balanced mix of American and traditional Korean options, and I found myself there most mornings. The Bubble Lounge provided a relaxed alternative workspace for laptop sessions. The rooftop Long Day Foot Spa looked appealing and is on my list for a future stay. Additional conveniences include an on-site laundry room, a fitness center, and an unmanned convenience spot called MAXI BAR, which stocks a selection of distinctive snacks. At check-in I also received discounts for Lotte Duty Free, a shopping complex about a 10-minute walk from the hotel that I visited on my final day.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Download the NAVER Map app for accurate English directions; it makes walking the neighborhood simple. I discovered a charming café where I enjoyed strawberry iced tea and pastries.
  • Set aside time to explore the nearby market. I wished I had lingered longer—street food aromas were irresistible, and vendors sold everything from souvenirs and snacks to clothing and handbags.
  • Take advantage of South Korea’s skincare offerings. I specifically visited an Olive Young store to try new products that are hard to find elsewhere.
