Crans-Montana: Summer Blues Festival and Mountain Art in Switzerland

The Swiss mountain town of Crans-Montana offers an abundance of scenic venues for summer cultural events. From Aug. 12–13, the lakeside mini-festival Blues@The Lake Moubra presents two days of jazz and rock performances with free admission, making it an accessible highlight for visitors and locals alike. On Aug. 7, soprano Sonya Yoncheva will give an evening recital at Chapelle St-Christophe from 8:30–11 p.m., showcasing her acclaimed vocal artistry in an intimate setting.

On Aug. 13, the celebrated violinist Shlomo Mintz appears with the Virtuosos of Kiev at Le Régent Congress Center under the baton of Dmitry Yablonsky, offering a refined orchestral program. Then on Aug. 15, the Hotel Royal hosts a concert themed “Silk Road,” where the Novin Afrouz Quintet blends Western and traditional Asian musical influences for a cross-cultural evening.

Art lovers can visit the Fondation Pierre Arnaud at 1 Route de Crans through Oct. 2 for a new exhibition titled Artists for Freedom: The Berlin Wall, which brings together works by a range of artists responding to that historic symbol. The exhibition adds a reflective visual arts component to the town’s lively summer lineup.
