British Airways has announced that its operations at Heathrow Terminal 3 are now functioning independently, with a dedicated team overseeing activities separate from those at Terminal 5.
In a press statement, the airline explained, “With flights to destinations from Miami to Marseille and Vancouver to Vienna, British Airways’ operation at Heathrow Terminal 3 is building its own identity, and is now running independently from its big sister, Terminal 5.”
Around one in five customers departing from Heathrow now use Terminal 3, representing roughly 7 million passengers each year. A significant portion of these travelers connect from American Airlines services or travel on American Airlines codeshare flights that link with British Airways routes.
David Rose, senior customer manager for Terminal 3 at British Airways, said in a carrier video that there are “big plans” for the check-in area in collaboration with American Airlines. He also confirmed that BA and American will open a new T3 Flight Connections Centre together this summer to improve transfers and passenger flow.
Rose added that behind the scenes the airline is establishing a dedicated Terminal 3 control room to monitor all aspects of operations and ensure the terminal runs as efficiently as possible. This focused approach aims to enhance customer service, streamline connections, and support Terminal 3’s emerging identity within Heathrow’s overall airport network.
