To expand its mobile reach, Emirates launched a new iPhone app following the positive reception of its iPad app. The Emirates app streamlines the travel experience by offering a range of practical features: check-in, flight booking, seat and meal selection, Skywards frequent-flyer account management, and the ability to download boarding passes directly into Passbook. The app also provides push notifications for check-in reminders, boarding calls, gate changes, and baggage belt information. In addition, first- and business-class customers can arrange complimentary chauffeur service through the app.
“More and more customers prefer to use their mobile devices and tablets to book and manage travel,” said Boutros Boutros, divisional senior vice president of corporate communications, marketing and brand at Emirates. “The Emirates app was created to meet those needs and make it easier and more convenient to interact with Emirates from a mobile device. We’ve had a very positive reaction to both our iPad and iPhone apps so far — downloads and usage continue to grow, and feedback has been encouraging. iPhone accounts for the majority of mobile traffic to our websites, which is why we launched on iOS first. Development of an Android version is already underway, and we will keep enhancing features for both iPad and iPhone users.”
