Hotel La Palma Capri: Grand Opening Spring 2023 — Book Now

Oetker Collection is restoring Capri’s first hotel, originally built in 1822, into a refined property named Hotel La Palma, Capri. Scheduled to reopen in spring 2023, the hotel will offer 50 rooms and suites and represents the collection’s 11th address. Interior designer Francis Sultana, together with local craftsmen and artisans, has overseen the redesign to honor the building’s history while introducing contemporary comfort and elegance.

“Capri is an island that I love. Hotel La Palma is an iconic hotel that everyone will adore in its new lease of life,” said Sultana. “I wanted my design to reflect the very special relationship I have with Capri — love at first sight from my first visit in my early 20s. The island’s romanticism, refined aesthetics and inspiring beauty informed every choice in the redesign.”

The restoration reduces the original 80 rooms to 50, allowing each accommodation to include a private balcony or terrace. Among these are 18 suites crafted to maximize views and comfort. The property also introduces several public spaces: a main restaurant and a rooftop venue, a bar and terraces that invite guests to linger and enjoy island life.

Dining at Hotel La Palma will be anchored by Gennaro’s, led by Chef Gennaro Esposito and focusing on authentic Italian cuisine made from quality regional ingredients. The rooftop restaurant and bar, Bianca, will offer evening service with light bites and a relaxed nocturnal atmosphere. A new pool deck and pool bar provide another social focal point for guests seeking sun and sea breezes.

Wellness features include a spa with three treatment rooms — one double suite — plus a sauna, steam bath, ice shower, relaxation area and a fitness center. The hotel will also house three boutiques, offering curated items that reflect local style and craftsmanship.

The interior palette leans on Mediterranean hues — blues, greens and turquoises — that evoke the sea and sky. These colors are paired with gentle curves in the reception and concierge desks and complemented by ceiling frescoes by Roberto Ruspoli. Architectural elements such as planters, niches and columns enhance the relaxed, seaside character of the hotel, creating a timeless setting that respects Capri’s heritage while offering modern luxury.
