Business Travelers Prefer Work Trips Over Office Days: Why

Most business travelers—about 70 percent—prefer being on the road to sitting in the office, according to the Business Travel and Technology Global Survey conducted by Egencia, Expedia’s business travel division.

The study gathered responses from 4,500 business travelers across Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Results indicate that work-related travel remains appealing and that traveler expectations are evolving, particularly around technology. Sixty-six percent of participants said they want the ability to book and manage their trips across multiple devices, not only on their smartphones.

“We are at a turning point in business travel where standalone products are just not enough,” said Rob Greyber, president of Egencia. “Global business travelers expect more than ever: instant access to information and management tools on any device, with the freedom to manage their travel independently.”
