Hawaiian Airlines Opens Ticket Sales for New Route to Maui

As of last week, travelers can now purchase tickets for Hawaiian Airlines’ new route between Kona International Airport (KOA) and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND). Service begins Dec. 20 and will operate three times weekly. This new nonstop connection complements Hawaiian’s existing Honolulu (HNL)–Haneda service and expands options for visitors traveling between Japan and the Island of Hawaiʻi.

“Since launching our first daily service to Haneda six years ago, Hawaiian has had the pleasure of carrying nearly 1 million visitors to Honolulu. As Hawaiʻi’s largest international market, it is clear Japanese travelers have chosen Hawaiian as their carrier of choice when visiting our beautiful islands. We are excited to offer even more choices for service with a second flight option from Haneda, the option to fly nonstop to Kona, and our new nonstop daily service from Narita launching later this month,” said Mark Dunkerley, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines.

The new Kona–Haneda schedule departs Hawaiʻi at 5:05 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and arrives in Haneda at 10:05 p.m. the following day. Return flights depart Haneda at 11:55 p.m. and arrive in Hawaiʻi at 12:15 p.m. on the same calendar day.

This route provides direct access to the Big Island for Japanese visitors and offers another convenient option for residents of Hawaii traveling to the Tokyo area. By adding Kona to its Haneda network, Hawaiian Airlines increases connectivity for leisure travelers and strengthens ties between the islands and Japan’s capital region.

Passengers can now book seats through Hawaiian Airlines’ official website or their preferred travel channels. Travelers should check baggage allowances, fare rules and any travel requirements that may apply for travel between the United States and Japan.
