LATAM Airlines Integrates LAN Colombia into oneworld Alliance

LAN Colombia is the newest affiliate member of oneworld. The carrier is part of LATAM Airlines Group, which also includes LAN Airlines. LAN has been a full oneworld member since 2000, and the group’s other passenger affiliates (LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador, LAN Peru) are also oneworld affiliates. TAM is scheduled to join oneworld in March 2014, with its Paraguayan affiliate to follow later.

This expansion brings all major components of Latin America’s leading airline group into the oneworld alliance, strengthening oneworld’s presence in South America and improving global connectivity for the region.

“LAN Colombia is very proud to have joined oneworld,” said Nicolás Cortázar, chairman of LAN Colombia. “For our company, this represents an important milestone. For our country, it enhances access to the rest of the world, helping attract more business visitors and tourists and allowing Colombians to reach key business centers around the globe.”

As an oneworld affiliate, LAN Colombia’s LANPASS frequent flyer members gain benefits across the alliance. Members can earn and redeem award miles and accrue tier points when flying with any oneworld partner airline, extending the value and reach of LANPASS across the global network.

LANPASS Comodoro and Comodoro Black members receive oneworld Emerald status. LANPASS Premium Silver members are granted oneworld Sapphire status, and LANPASS Premium members receive oneworld Ruby status. These tier alignments provide associated privileges when traveling on any oneworld partner, such as access to business-class check-in, priority on waitlists and standby, and, where available, pre-reserved or preferred seating.
