Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways, noted the personal significance of the Africa program: “This was one of the first cruises I experienced with AmaWaterways after becoming CEO and it truly left an unforgettable impression. We’re excited to give guests even more chances to witness wildlife from riverbanks, meet local communities, and explore the vibrant cultures and landscapes that define this region. Travelers can discover more of Southern and Eastern Africa in comfort and style while contributing to sustainable tourism initiatives that support local people.”

The new departures include a variety of durations and highlights to suit different traveler interests. From the Cape to the Falls is offered as a nine‑ or 11‑night itinerary traveling from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, combining multiple river and land safaris with an optional two‑night extension in Johannesburg. The 14‑night Iconic Africa tour visits some of the continent’s most iconic sights, including a three‑night stay in Greater Kruger National Park. Classic Kenya & Southern Africa comes in 14‑ or 18‑night formats and includes an optional extension to Zanzibar. The 15‑night African Wonders & the Skeleton Coast itinerary highlights the striking, windswept landscapes of Namibia.

All four itineraries are designed to balance wildlife viewing, cultural encounters, and comfortable accommodations, with local guides and thoughtfully planned excursions to maximize time in key destinations. These programs aim to be responsible and sustainable, emphasizing community engagement and conservation-minded travel practices.

Reservations for the new Africa Safaris & Wildlife Cruise itineraries open ahead of the inaugural sailings, which begin in August 2026. Guests seeking a combination of river cruising and land-based safaris now have expanded options to explore Southern and Eastern Africa with small‑ship luxury and immersive land experiences.
