Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Breeze introduced several fresh ideas when it debuted in 2012, and now Carnival’s latest ship answers the familiar desire for something new among travelers.
The Carnival Vista brings many new and exciting opportunities for vacationers. Launched in early May, the ship represents an ambitious next chapter for the line. While it follows a layout familiar to Carnival guests, it stands out with distinctive features: a 455-foot kaleidoscope water slide, contemporary interior finishes, expanded stateroom options and next-generation technology that create a lively, modern onboard experience.
Balcony accommodations are a major focus, with 877 balcony/lanai staterooms that can be as large as 230 square feet. For guests seeking more space, the grand suites provide about 345 square feet of living area and private balconies of approximately 85 square feet.
Family travel was emphasized in the design of Deck 2, which includes 96 family “harbour” staterooms fitted with a kids’ sleeping nook and dedicated TV. Families staying in these staterooms gain 24-hour access to an exclusive family lounge stocked with televisions, video game consoles, board games and complimentary snacks and beverages. Children in harbour rooms also enjoy free meals at the ship’s main dining venues.
Havana accommodations offer a private, relaxed vibe with exclusive access to the Havana Bar and pool. Oceanview Havana cabins include patio space so guests can enjoy fresh air and views in a quieter setting.
For thrills and entertainment, Carnival Vista introduces the SkyRide, a suspended pedal-powered course set high above the deck that lets guests ride 15 stories over the ocean. The ship also features the first IMAX theater at sea, offering a large-format cinematic experience with ticket prices typically ranging from $5.50 to $12.95. Evening entertainment options include piano-bar performances and other late-night venues.
Dining options have been expanded and diversified. Seafood Shack is a casual addition serving classic seaside fare such as fish and chips, lobster rolls and New England clam chowder. The ship increases al fresco dining choices, making it easier to enjoy meals outdoors. Beverage offerings include a dedicated RedFrog Pub and Brewery—the first brewery aboard a U.S. cruise ship—where guests of legal drinking age can sample Caribbean-inspired brews such as a hopping IPA and a spicy unfiltered Caribbean wheat ale.
Overall, the Carnival Vista aims to deliver a premium-feeling cruise experience at a value-conscious price point. Its inaugural season included an 11-day Eastern Caribbean round-trip from New York and an 11-day South Caribbean voyage from New York to Miami, after which the ship settled into year-round six- and eight-day Caribbean itineraries sailing from Miami.
