RH Guesthouse Opens in New York — Luxury Design Hotel Guide

RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) has opened RH Guesthouse New York, located just steps from the RH New York gallery in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The property, which debuted in September 2022, offers a private, secure entrance and an intimate hospitality experience. The guesthouse contains six 500-square-foot guestrooms and three 1,000-square-foot suites. The entire top floor is occupied by RH Chairman and CEO Gary Friedman’s private residence, which is occasionally available for booking.

Each guestroom and suite is appointed with two full bathrooms, a freshly stocked gourmet pantry, an in-room gym, and exclusive access to the private rooftop garden, pool, and dining terrace. The rooftop offers sweeping views of lower Manhattan, One World Trade Center, and the Hudson River.

Dining at RH Guesthouse centers on The Dining Room & Terrace, a dramatic live-fire restaurant. The menu highlights wood-grilled Australian Wagyu ribeye, rotisserie-carved chicken, branzino roasted over Japanese Binchotan charcoal, and a signature wood-grilled avocado topped with 15 grams of Petrossian Imperial Kaluga Caviar.

Below the guesthouse, the Champagne & Caviar Bar occupies the cellar as a luminous, 32-seat experience focused on top-grade Petrossian caviar paired with a curated selection of fine champagnes.

“The RH Guesthouse has been designed through a lens of privacy and luxury,” said Gary Friedman, CEO and chairman of RH. “Privacy is the one thing everyone has given away on social media, and the one thing the internet has taken away, as you can access anyone online. We believe privacy is going to become a large and important market, and the RH Guesthouse has an opportunity to define that new market with an unseen-before level of design, quality, and hospitality.”

The rooms and suites reflect a disciplined study of balance, symmetry, and proportion. Each space is tailored like a bespoke suit: European oak on walls, floors, ceilings, and moldings flows into two full bathrooms clad in warm, vein-matched Italian travertine. South-facing, soundproof windows with classical detailing and carefully calibrated architectural lighting ensure the rooms glow day and night.

The in-room gourmet pantry includes charcuterie, crudités, fresh berries, and a baguette. For private workouts, rooms are equipped with stainless-steel and walnut kettlebells and dumbbells, leather yoga blocks, mats, and a Bosu ball.

Guests have year-round access to the private rooftop terrace for breakfast, lunch, or candlelit dinners. Travertine daybeds overlook a 40-foot mosaic infinity pool, and the terrace is designed for relaxation and dramatic views of the city and sunsets over the Hudson.

The Residence is a singular 2,600-square-foot full-floor penthouse with an open-plan layout. Eleven-foot coffered ceilings, boiserie walls, Corinthian columns, and herringbone floors frame the space. A monolithic Italian travertine fireplace and a chef’s kitchen with a stainless-steel La Cornue range anchor opposite ends of the main room. A hand-carved travertine dining table seats eight. Furnished with Loro Piana cashmere seating and finished in European oak, the Residence accommodates private dining, in-room chefs, and cinematic views of the Meatpacking District and downtown skyline.

The Rooftop Garden, Pool & Dining Terrace is an architectural oasis featuring sculpted hedges and London plane trees around the 40-foot mosaic infinity pool. Travertine daybeds rest on vein-matched travertine decking and are shaded by motorized, heated TUUCI umbrellas for comfort in all seasons.

The property’s aesthetic combines floor-to-ceiling European oak with vein-cut Italian travertine, Italian wool-velvet upholstery, and stainless-steel accents to create spaces that feel both timeless and contemporary.
