Airberlin Expands Flights and Services in Abu Dhabi

airberlin will strengthen its partnership with codeshare partner Etihad Airways by adding a second daily flight between Berlin (TXL) and Abu Dhabi (AUH) starting October 26. This expanded service will increase capacity on the only direct link between Germany’s capital and the United Arab Emirates.

The route is operated with Airbus A330-200 aircraft configured with 19 full-flat business class seats and 279 economy seats, offering enhanced comfort for both leisure and business travelers. The additional frequency is intended to provide greater flexibility for passengers connecting between European and Middle Eastern networks.

In addition to the increased flights, airberlin and Etihad have expanded their codeshare agreement to include six destinations in India served by Etihad Airways: New Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Cochin (COK), Chennai (MAA), Hyderabad (HYD) and Bangalore (BLR). This extension allows airberlin customers to book seamless connections to key Indian cities on Etihad-operated services.

James Hogan, president and CEO of Etihad Airways, highlighted the success of the cooperation, noting that 560,000 passengers traveled across the two airlines’ combined networks in 2013 — a 74 percent increase compared with the previous year. The growing partnership aims to deliver better connectivity and more travel options for passengers across Europe, the Middle East and South Asia.
