The Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany this week unveiled its vision for the aircraft cabin of the future. At the show, seven forward-thinking cabin solutions were honored with the Crystal Cabin Award, often called the “Cabin Oscar.”
A 24-member jury recognized innovations from B/E Aerospace, Embraer, SABIC Innovative Plastics, SII Deutschland, ViaSat, Etihad Airways and Hamburg University of Applied Sciences for their outstanding cabin concepts and products.
“Selecting the Crystal Cabin Award winners was a tough decision this year, as all finalists were of very high quality, ranging from renowned manufacturers to inspiring university concepts, which we will hopefully see flying soon,” said Melissa Raudebaugh, general manager, aircraft experience at Delta Air Lines and chairperson of the judging panel. The 21 finalists were chosen from 68 submissions across 18 countries, each showcasing innovations passengers are likely to experience in upcoming aircraft cabins.
The Crystal Cabin Award winners were recognized across multiple categories:
- Premium Class & VIP: A380 Upper Deck by Etihad (UAE)
- Greener Cabin, Health, Safety & Environment: Solar Eclipse by B/E Aerospace (USA)
- Industrial Design & Visionary Concepts: E2 Cabin Concept by Embraer (Brazil)
