JetBlue Adds TSA PreCheck for Faster Airport Security Screening

JetBlue has joined the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program, giving eligible travelers access to expedited airport screening. The TSA PreCheck lane allows passengers to keep shoes, belts and light outerwear on, and to leave laptops and approved liquids in carry-on bags, speeding the security process and reducing lines.

Eligibility for JetBlue PreCheck is available to U.S. citizens who are members of Trusted Traveler programs such as Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI. To receive the PreCheck designation at the airport when flying JetBlue, eligible customers must check in using the JetBlue mobile app. JetBlue also notes that some travelers who check in via the mobile app but are not enrolled in PreCheck may be randomly selected by the TSA for expedited screening if they meet the agency’s low-risk criteria.

Currently, JetBlue’s PreCheck access is limited to passengers who present mobile boarding passes created through the carrier’s app. The airline has announced plans to extend PreCheck eligibility to include paper boarding passes in the first quarter of next year. Until that change is implemented, only mobile boarding passes will be accepted for PreCheck processing on JetBlue flights.

TSA PreCheck lanes are available at 22 JetBlue locations, offering faster security screening at participating airports. Travelers should confirm PreCheck availability at their departure airport and ensure their Known Traveler Number (KTN) is added to their JetBlue reservation or set up in their account to receive the designation at check-in.

Tips for using JetBlue PreCheck:

Enroll in TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI and add your Known Traveler Number to your JetBlue profile.
Check in using the JetBlue mobile app to receive PreCheck status while the mobile-only policy remains in effect.
Arrive at the airport with the correct boarding pass format (mobile) until JetBlue enables paper boarding passes for PreCheck.
Verify that PreCheck lanes are operating at your departure airport; availability can vary by location.

Joining TSA PreCheck is part of JetBlue’s ongoing efforts to improve the passenger experience by reducing wait times and streamlining security. As the airline expands eligibility to include paper boarding passes next year, more travelers should be able to take advantage of the expedited screening offered through the TSA program.
