Zürich Art in the Park Festival Starts June 9

Zürich’s 11th Art in the Park opens on June 9. This annual exhibition, held in the private lakeside gardens of the Baur Au Lac, presents a carefully curated selection of sculptures and artworks by internationally recognized artists.

The 2013 edition is dedicated to Australian sculptor Robert Klippel (1920–2001). Known for his intricate assemblages and a personal aesthetic he called “man‑made mechanization,” Klippel’s work has appeared alongside pieces by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Fernand Léger, René Magritte, Lucian Freud and Wifredo Lam, highlighting his standing within the modern art canon.

Art in the Park is organised in collaboration with Zürich’s Galerie Gmurzynska, bringing together institutional expertise and the park’s unique setting to create an accessible outdoor exhibition. The show runs through August 7, offering visitors the opportunity to view large-scale sculptures and installations in a landscaped, lakeside environment.

The exhibition emphasizes the dialogue between artwork and setting, allowing sculptures to be experienced in natural light and open air. Visitors can expect a selection that balances historical importance with contemporary relevance, and the layout is designed to encourage leisurely exploration of the park and its art.

Practical information for attendees is typically provided by the organisers and the hosting venue; prospective visitors should check opening hours and any visitor guidelines before planning their visit. The combination of a prestigious hotel location and a high-quality art programme makes Art in the Park a notable cultural event in Zürich’s summer calendar.
