With fewer than 200 days until players take the field for Super Bowl XLIX, the host city has begun an official countdown to the event.
The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton recently unveiled a countdown clock at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The modern digital display is installed in the terminal on a 55-inch, high-definition LED screen, positioned to reach thousands of travelers each day.
“We’re thrilled to have the Super Bowl XLIX countdown clock prominently located at Sky Harbor,” said David Rousseau, chairman of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee. “As we hit the six-month mark, this will help drive awareness and anticipation for the Super Bowl and all the surrounding events.”
Super Bowl XLIX is scheduled for Feb. 1 at University of Phoenix Stadium, marking Arizona’s third time hosting the game in 19 years. The countdown clock is part of a broader effort to promote the game and related activities across the region, giving residents and visitors a visible reminder as preparations accelerate.
The airport installation aims to boost engagement and excitement among travelers, local fans, and visitors who will arrive in Phoenix for the season’s biggest sporting event. By placing the clock in a high-traffic location, organizers hope to increase awareness of game-day logistics, local events, and community programs tied to the Super Bowl.
As the date approaches, the host committee plans additional initiatives to support fan experience, transportation coordination, and visitor services, ensuring the region is ready for an influx of attendees. The countdown clock serves as both a symbolic and practical element of those efforts, offering a constant, visible reminder that the city is gearing up for a major national event.
With preparations underway and attention building, the countdown at Sky Harbor reinforces Phoenix’s role as the game’s host and invites the public to share in the anticipation leading up to Super Bowl XLIX.
