Centrally located in Madrid, the VP Plaza España Design Hotel was created with a clear design vision developed by leading Spanish and international artists. The hotel’s artistic program includes works by Pere Gifre, Dario Urzay, Fernando Palacios, Nacho Zubelzu, Verónica Domingo, Héléne Bergaz, Patricia San Juan, Marre and Jan Hendrix, each contributing pieces that shape the property’s identity as a design hotel.
Pere Gifre designed an eight-story waterfall that spans the atrium, introducing a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere as soon as guests enter. The lobby features paintings by Bilbao-born artist Dario Urzay that examine themes of communication and human connection, while corridors and selected guestrooms display three-dimensional works by painter and sculptor Fernando Palacios, adding texture and depth to the hotel’s circulation spaces.
The bar and lobby-area restrooms showcase collages by Nacho Zubelzu, and a prominent mural titled “Buscando a un hombre” greets visitors near the elevators. In several suites, Verónica Domingo’s India-ink paintings blend elements of Asian art and calligraphy, creating intimate, meditative environments. Héléne Bergaz, a Madrid native, produced photographic montages featuring meteorites that appear throughout the guestroom art collection, lending a unique, cosmic perspective to the décor.
Additional creative contributions from Patricia San Juan, Marre and Jan Hendrix further enrich the hotel’s public and private spaces, reinforcing the design concept with varied techniques and visual languages. Together, these works establish the VP Plaza España Design Hotel as a central Madrid destination where contemporary art and hospitality intersect, offering guests visually engaging settings alongside comfortable accommodations.
