Souljourn Yoga Launches First U.S. Retreat: Dates & Details

Wellness travelers and truth seekers often go far afield in search of restorative experiences. Cousins Jordan Ashley, founder of Souljourn Yoga, and Allison Bagg, a breathwork practitioner, are bringing that spirit closer to home with Souljourn’s first U.S. yoga and sound retreat in Taos, New Mexico, Dec. 5–9. Previously, the Souljourn Foundation has hosted retreats at Table Mountain in South Africa, in the forests of Rwanda, at Machu Picchu in Peru, and beside Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Choosing Taos felt natural: it’s widely recognized among wellness communities as one of America’s most soulful, artistic, and scenic destinations.

Across four nights and five days, mornings begin with an energizing yoga flow led by Jordan Ashley, while evenings close with Allison Bagg’s immersive soundscapes featuring guided meditation, alchemy crystal singing bowls, and other meditative instruments. Between those anchor practices, participants will enjoy nourishing vegetarian cuisine prepared by a private chef, a guided visit to Taos Pueblo, restorative afternoons at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa, and nights under wide star-filled skies. As Jordan explains, the retreat is designed to both replenish and awaken heart, mind, and spirit.

The schedule also includes a visit to Española Healing Foods Oasis (EHFO) for a private tour of the garden and its medicinal plantings. EHFO is a community-driven space where a once-barren slope was transformed into an edible, perennial garden using traditional dry-land farming and permaculture principles. The garden supplies seasonal food and native medicinal herbs to Española and the neighboring tri-cultural communities of the northern Río Grande Valley, while harvesting precious rainwater and offering accessible pathways and beauty for visitors and residents alike. During the visit, attendees will meet the Sayain, a circle of grandmothers—inter-tribal, multicultural women who act as elders and bless the site.

The Sayain has inspired and supported the work of Tewa Women United (TWU), a partner organization for the retreat. A portion of each registration supports this nonprofit: the fee includes a $200 donation to TWU. According to Jordan Ashley, TWU “envisions movements rooted in P’in Haa (Breath of Heart/Life) and P’in Nall (Touching Heart and Spirit) that nurture and celebrate the collective power of beloved families, communities, and Nung Ochuu Quiyo (Earth Mother).” Through relational practices, TWU creates courageous spaces that center Indigenous women and girls, connecting them with ancestral knowledge, healing strengths, and lifeways that support the wellbeing of whole communities.

To register for the Taos retreat, visit the Souljourn Yoga Foundation website. Souljourn is a nonprofit organization that produces transformational yoga retreats and teacher training programs to raise awareness and funds for young women’s education around the world.

Spaces are limited, and the retreat offers a balanced blend of movement, sound, cultural connection, nourishing food, and time for silent reflection—an intentional container for those seeking renewal and deeper connection in a uniquely resonant New Mexico landscape.
