Bristol will host a number of major festivals this year. The Bristol Harbour Festival, running July 15–17, celebrates its 50th anniversary with live music, maritime displays and markets along the harbourside. The weekend offers performances, circus acts, street food and more than 100 sailing vessels moored in the harbor, creating a lively, family-friendly atmosphere.

Another highlight is the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta at Ashton Court Estate, August 11–14. More than 100 hot-air balloons gather for mass ascents over several days, with a famous Night Glow event that illuminates the sky as balloons light up on the ground. The fiesta also includes market stalls, live music and a wide selection of street food.

Bristol’s cultural venues also have notable exhibitions this year. Bristol Museum & Art Gallery presents a selection of works chosen by artist Grayson Perry, running through Sept. 4. At M Shed Museum, the Think Global, Act Bristol exhibition, open from June 25 through the end of October, explores the city’s historical and current connections to climate and ecological issues, inviting visitors to engage with local and global perspectives.

This summer, the immersive Wake the Tiger Amazement Park offers a one-hour, interactive art experience described as an ‘alchemist’s dream.’ Visitors move through 27 creatively designed rooms that blend visual spectacle with thoughtful prompts to inspire positive changes and a hopeful outlook on the future.

New and recently opened hotels add to Bristol’s appeal. The former Edward Everard printworks on Broad Street has been transformed into a four-star Clayton Hotel by the Dalata Group. Housed in an early 20th-century building, the hotel features 255 rooms and an on-site restaurant, blending historic architecture with modern comforts.

Also new to the city, Moxy Bristol Hotel opened in April. Part of the Marriott family, this boutique-style, value-focused hotel offers 214 rooms and emphasizes sustainability alongside a convenient location near the city center and shopping areas. Its arrival expands affordable options for visitors seeking a lively, centrally located base.

With this mix of festivals, exhibitions, immersive art and fresh accommodation choices, Bristol continues to balance its proud past with an energetic, future-facing cultural scene. Whether visiting for events on the harbourside, balloon-filled skies or innovative museum displays, the city offers plenty to discover throughout the year.
