Sleep Pods Coming to European Airports: What Travelers Need to Know

The age-old, often uncomfortable experience of sleeping in an airport terminal may soon be a thing of the past for travelers who don’t have access to lounges or nearby hotels.

New single-person sleeping pods are being installed in European airports. These fully enclosed, soundproof units are available to rent for short naps or longer rests and are equipped with amenities designed for comfort and convenience: WiFi, air conditioning, streaming entertainment, a compact workstation, multiple charging points, an alarm clock, flight status updates and a seat that converts into a flat bed.

Designed to give passengers a private space to relax, work, sleep or entertain themselves between flights, the pods aim to make layovers and delays far less stressful and more productive.

Pods are rented by the hour, offering flexible options for travelers who need anything from a quick recharge to a longer break overnight. The initial installations are expected across European airports, with the product developed and manufactured in Slovenia. The same pods are also suitable for purchase by other high-traffic locations such as train and bus stations, or any public facility where travelers might benefit from a quiet, private rest space.

The units are currently in beta testing, with a wider roll-out planned for the coming months. As deployment expands, hourly rental availability and location coverage are likely to increase, giving more travelers access to a convenient, private place to rest during journeys.
