Tickets are now available for Singapore Airlines’ newest class of travel, Premium Economy, with service beginning Aug. 9. Select flights from Singapore (SIN) to Sydney (SYD) will be the first to feature the new cabin. The carrier will introduce Premium Economy on additional routes operated by its Airbus A380s and Boeing 777-300ERs, and the cabin will also be included on future Airbus A350 aircraft.
Development of the Premium Economy product began in November 2013, with collaboration among seat manufacturers ZIM Flugsitz GmbH (for the A380 and 777-300ER), Zodiac Seats U.S. (for the A350), and design firm JPA Design. The rollout initially covers 19 A380s, 19 777-300ERs and the first 20 A350s. The airline estimates the total investment in the new cabin to be about $80 million.
“Many of our customers’ suggestions have been incorporated into the new product, and we are confident it will be well received by travelers who are looking for more features in the seat design, in-flight offerings and exclusive privileges, all underpinned by the exceptional service that SIA is well known for, both on the ground and in the air,” said Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines.
The Premium Economy seats are designed for comfort and space. Seat widths range from 18.5 to 19.5 inches and each seat offers an 8‑inch recline to improve comfort on longer flights. Entertainment features include a 13.3‑inch full HD monitor—one of the largest screens in this class—and active noise‑cancelling headphones to enhance the audio experience.
In addition to the upgraded seat and entertainment amenities, the new cabin aims to provide elevated in-flight service and exclusive privileges tailored for passengers who want more comfort than economy but prefer a more affordable option than business class. The combination of improved ergonomics, larger personal screens and curated service enhancements positions Premium Economy as a compelling choice for leisure and business travelers alike.
Bookings are open now for travel on eligible flights beginning Aug. 9. Travelers can check flight availability and fares for Premium Economy on Singapore Airlines-operated routes that will receive the new cabin during its phased rollout.
