Air France–KLM is expanding its Canadian network with the addition of non-stop service to Edmonton, Alberta (YEG), and increased frequencies to Vancouver (YVR). KLM will begin operating direct flights between Amsterdam (AMS) and Edmonton three times weekly using Airbus A330-200 aircraft starting May 5, 2015, with a plan to increase to four weekly departures from June 22. Edmonton will join Toronto (YYZ), Vancouver, Montréal (YUL), and Calgary (YYC) as the fifth Canadian destination served by Air France–KLM from Amsterdam and Paris (CDG).
In addition to the new Edmonton service, Air France will boost capacity on the Paris–Vancouver route. From March 29, Air France will operate up to five weekly flights between Paris and Vancouver using Boeing 777-200 aircraft. This schedule complements KLM’s existing seven weekly services between Amsterdam and Vancouver, offering travelers more options and improved connectivity between Canada and Europe.
The expanded schedule strengthens Air France–KLM’s presence in Western Canada and provides greater choice for passengers traveling for business and leisure. By adding Edmonton and increasing frequencies to Vancouver, the group is responding to growing demand for transatlantic travel and improving connections through its Amsterdam and Paris hubs. Passengers can expect a mix of long-haul widebody equipment on these routes, reflecting the carriers’ focus on capacity and comfort for intercontinental travel.
Overall, these changes enhance the airline group’s North American footprint and make it easier for travelers across Canada to access direct links to major European hubs, supporting both tourism and business ties between the regions.
