The Inn at Diamond Cove is steeped in history and retains strong architectural integrity. The site dates to 1891–1907, when Fort McKinley helped defend Portland Harbor during the Spanish-American War. After a careful restoration that preserved authentic details and the original character of the buildings, the Inn opened in 2015 with the historic barracks repurposed into a distinctive island retreat.

Located on Great Diamond Island in Casco Bay, the Inn is a 30-minute ferry ride from Portland’s Old Port and serves as the heart of Diamond Cove, a private community of residences. The property offers 42 deluxe island condominiums with balconies, broad wooden porches, a swimming pool and cabana bar. Dining is available at Diamonds Edge, the waterfront restaurant overlooking Casco Bay. Guests can explore nearby walking trails and historic ruins, relax on secluded beaches, play tennis, bike, boat or simply enjoy the peaceful rhythm of Maine island life.
