Arrival/Check-In: I arrived on a direct flight from LAX and reached the new Posadas property in the late afternoon. The hotel sits at the end of one of Mexico City’s longest avenues, Paseo de la Reforma, in the Bosques de las Lomas neighborhood. Narrow lanes reveal museums and mansions set behind secure, gated walls. The area is lined with upscale shopping centers and corporate offices, offering a safe, polished atmosphere.
Entering the lobby, I realized the photos on the hotel website undersold the space. Valets opened the glass doors to an open-air lobby with soaring ceilings, local artwork and a stylish seating area. At the reception to the right, attendants invited me to sit while signing in for my executive suite on the top floor, room 528, and offered a chilled glass of Moscato.
Guest Quarters: The suite featured high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that filled the space with natural light. Wood floors led to a guest bathroom immediately to the right and then into the living room, where gray walls, blue sofas and two tables faced a 46-inch flat-screen television.
The bedroom continued the bright, airy feel with large windows that illuminated a white marble desk and a king-sized bed. An oversized abstract painting above the bed added an eclectic, modern touch. Each bedside table included multiple outlets for charging devices. A large flat-screen TV faced the bed, while a long dark wood cabinet ran the length of the room, providing ample storage space.
My favorite feature was the glass-walled bathroom. The generously sized room included a green lounge chair and pillows to the right, opposite the clothes closet. A freestanding tub took center stage and looked through to the bedroom, with wooden blinds available for privacy. Behind the tub sat a double-sink marble vanity with a large mirror and bright lighting. A separate shower and toilet were discreetly located behind frosted glass.
Services/Amenities: Live Aqua’s main restaurant, La Cantina, changes its menu and mood throughout the day. The open dining area allows views of the kitchen and chefs at work. Mornings are calm with attentive service — I enjoyed a well-prepared New York bagel sandwich. Evenings transform the restaurant into a lively spot serving tapas and fresh ceviche alongside tequila and whiskey. The Lobby Bar is a relaxed place to sample the hotel’s extensive liquor selection and small plates; I recommend stepping out to the outdoor deck for fresh air with your drink.
The newly opened spa, Feel Urban by Live Aqua, is a tranquil oasis ideal after a day of meetings. The hydrotherapy circuit, sauna and steam room are particularly restorative.
The Experience: Having visited Mexico City many times, I’m pleased this fresh, contemporary hotel has arrived in the city. It blends modern technology useful for business travelers with leisure amenities that make business travel feel less like work. The property is convenient to the financial districts, though travel into central parts of the city or to some museums can require longer drives depending on traffic.
