Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum in New York’s Hudson Valley, where visitors encounter large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions beneath the open sky. A visit to Storm King makes for a memorable weekend in Orange County, combining world-class outdoor art with local shopping, dining, and scenic walks across rolling lawns and gentle hills.

“Storm King Art Center, one of Orange County’s signature attractions, offers a unique experience in every season,” says Amanda Dana, director of Orange County Tourism & Film. In winter the sculptures can read as bolder silhouettes against snow and a spare landscape; in spring and summer the works sit amid green fields and warm sunlight. After exploring the art, visitors can enjoy the many other highlights Orange County has to offer.
Nearby, the Shops at Jones Farm feature homegrown produce, gourmet foods and baked goods from Grandma Phoebe’s Kitchen. Housed in a converted Dutch barn, Clearwater Gifts offers an eclectic selection of furniture, jewelry, clothing and accessories—perfect for finding a unique memento of your visit.

For a refined dining experience, Painter’s Tavern serves local seafood, meats and produce in a restaurant that doubles as an intimate art gallery. For overnight stays, consider the nearby Cromwell Manor Inn in Cornwall, where an early 19th-century brick Manor Building and the 1764 House offer historic character and comfortable guest rooms.
