Beginning Nov. 24, British Airways will begin operating direct flights from Gatwick (LGW) to Cape Town (CPT). The three weekly services will depart Gatwick on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 6:00 p.m., arriving in Cape Town the following morning at 7:50 a.m.
“With its remarkable mix of natural beauty, culture, wildlife and history, Cape Town stands out as one of Africa’s most compelling destinations,” said Lynne Embleton, managing director, Gatwick Airport, British Airways. “From the dramatic coastline and the iconic views from Table Mountain to renowned vineyards and dining, Cape Town draws visitors from around the world. We are proud to be the only airline offering direct services from both Gatwick and Heathrow to this sought-after destination while continuing to expand our long-haul network.”
Advance fares for the new Gatwick–Cape Town route will start from £795.
This service is part of a wider expansion of British Airways’ long-haul offerings from Gatwick this year. Other new routes introduced at Gatwick include flights to Costa Rica (SJO), New York (JFK) and Lima (LIM), strengthening connectivity for leisure and business travellers alike.
These additions reflect growing demand for direct long-haul travel from London Gatwick, giving passengers more choice and convenient schedules for popular destinations. The evening departures make it easier for travellers to connect from daytime flights and arrive in Cape Town early enough to make the most of the first day.
