Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar Opens at The Telegraph Hotel Tbilisi

Overlooking Tbilisi, Georgia’s historic Republic Square, The Telegraph Hotel—formerly the city’s 1970s Central Post Office—has been transformed into a contemporary and distinctive hotel by Shanghai-based studio Neri&Hu, which opened in June 2025.

At the same time, Silk Hospitality, the parent brand of The Telegraph Hotel, joined The Leading Hotels of the World, making The Telegraph Hotel the first LHW property in Georgia.

Neri&Hu reimagined the building’s 239 guestrooms, refreshed its façade and introduced a range of exterior design effects. The original Bolnisi tuff façade was carefully restored and preserved; the natural texture and varied color palette of the tuff—ranging from gray to rusty tones—adds a rugged, tactile quality that complements the hotel’s contemporary interventions.

Located in the heart of Tbilisi, the hotel distinguishes itself with new culinary and music venues. Highlights include a rooftop cocktail bar, a Thai street-food concept, an Italian restaurant, and an extensive selection of Georgian dishes. Guests can also enjoy event spaces, a dedicated jazz club, a wellness studio and the Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar.

“The Telegraph is quickly becoming one of the city’s main attractions and a cherished meeting place,” said George Ramishvili, founder of Silk Road Group. He noted the addition of the Tatuza Jazz Club, the Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar and an Italian restaurant to the hotel’s lineup. The Tatuza Jazz Club launched with a concert featuring Stanley Clarke, Beka Gochiashvili and Dennis Chambers; until now, Tbilisi had not had a jazz club of this caliber. The venue now hosts live concerts for jazz lovers. On the top floor, the Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar—the first in the region associated with the international music brand—opened with a headline performance by Nik West, and is positioned to become one of the city’s premier music destinations.

Ramishvili also highlighted the terrace restaurant Philosophico as a fresh discovery for fans of Italian cuisine. He described The Telegraph as part of a wider redevelopment strategy for Republic Square undertaken by Silk Road Group.

Originally a significant Soviet-era postal and telegraph office, the Brutalist landmark had been left vacant for years. Neri&Hu’s renovation preserves the building’s history while giving it a renewed civic role. What was once a hub for telegraphic communications has been reinterpreted as a layered architectural narrative of community, memory and movement. The Telegraph now functions as an active, welcoming civic space that honors its past while serving contemporary life in the center of Tbilisi.
